High THC, Young Adults & Mixing Risks: What ARUC Wants You to Know

THC is what gives cannabis its kick, but more isn’t always better. Directive 2 (ARUC’s harm reduction bible) puts clear guardrails in place because science shows high potency can amplify downsides—especially for younger brains or when mixed with other substances.

Key Points Straight from the Rules:

  • If you’re 18–20, ARUC strongly advises sticking to ≤15% THC. Anything over 18% is flat-out banned for you—full stop—due to potential long-term brain impacts.
  • Regular high-THC use raises chances of problematic patterns, anxiety spikes, or worse if there’s family history of mental health issues like schizophrenia.
  • Mixing cannabis with nicotine (e.g., in joints or vapes) is flagged as especially risky—nicotine amps up dependency potential and health strain.

The goal isn’t scare tactics; it’s giving you facts so you can dial in what works for you. Many CHRAs offer water, info booklets, and chats to help spot and reduce risks early.

Stay informed, stay moderate—your future self will thank you.
